The 38th COOMET Committee Meeting

The 38th COOMET Committee Meeting was held in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan, bringing together representatives of the member states to discuss key issues related to the development of regional cooperation in metrology, the strengthening of metrological infrastructure, and enhanced interaction among national metrology institutes.

During the meeting, participants reviewed COOMET’s priority areas of activity, including digital transformation in metrology, support for countries with developing metrological systems, expansion of cooperation with international and regional organizations, and further development of professional capacity within the metrology community.

One of the major milestones of the meeting was the launch of the unified COOMET information resource, which is expected to enhance transparency, facilitate prompt information exchange, and improve coordination among the member states.

During the meeting, the honorary title “Honorary Metrologist of COOMET” was awarded to Ema Nabiyeva, Gunel Mutallimova and Shahla Ismayilova (Azerbaijan), Vasiliy Gulyuk (Belarus), Nurlan Seksembayev (Kazakhstan), Natalia Viktorova (Russia), Bakhtiyor Ashurov and Musalama Khudoieva (Tajikistan), Kamoliddin Najmutdinov (Uzbekistan), and Enver Sadikoğlu (Türkiye). The award recognized their significant contribution to the development of metrology, the strengthening of international cooperation, and the enhancement of COOMET’s reputation at both regional and international levels.

Special attention was given to the 35th anniversary of COOMET. Participants highlighted the importance of long-standing cooperation, the achievements attained over the years, and the organization’s role in advancing metrological support, mutual recognition of measurement capabilities, and professional knowledge exchange.

Following the voting process, COOMET President Lazizbek Saidoripov was re-elected for a second consecutive term. This decision reflected the high level of confidence placed in him by the member states and recognized his contribution to the development of international metrological cooperation.

In addition, elections were held for the heads of several COOMET structural bodies. Natalia Viktorova was elected Chair of TC 1.1 “General Questions Concerning Measurements (General Metrology)”, Azamat Taubaldiyev was elected Chair of TC 1.9 “Ionizing Radiation and Radioactivity”, Alisher Botirov was elected Chair of SC 1.6.6 “Flow Measurement”, and Alina Davidouskaya was elected Chair of TG-CEEMS “Task Group to Support Countries with Emerging Metrology Systems”.

These results demonstrate the high professional standing of the elected experts and their significant contribution to the advancement of metrology at both regional and international levels.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the proposal to hold the 39th COOMET Committee Meeting in the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2027 was endorsed.
