COOMET participated in the 19th General Assembly of the Intra-Africa Metrology System (AFRIMETS) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The General Assembly brings together representatives of National Metrology Institutes and other organizations from more than 30 African countries, as well as AFRIMETS’ international and regional partners.
During the General Assembly, COOMET delivered a presentation on the history of the Organization, its current activities, key areas of work and planned events.
COOMET placed particular emphasis on the prospects for further strengthening cooperation between COOMET and AFRIMETS and presented proposals for expanding interaction between the two regional metrology organizations, which also cooperate in the field of legal metrology.
Potential areas for further cooperation include strengthening interregional interaction, exchanging experience, expanding the participation of COOMET and AFRIMETS member organizations in joint metrology activities, and developing professional contacts between the two regions.
Participation in the General Assembly provided an opportunity to continue direct dialogue between COOMET and AFRIMETS and to discuss practical areas for future cooperation.
In 2026, AFRIMETS celebrates its 20th anniversary. COOMET congratulates AFRIMETS, its leadership, members and the African metrology community on this important milestone and wishes the Organization continued development, new achievements and further success in strengthening the region’s metrology infrastructure.
