On 12 October 2026, representatives of States Parties to the Metre Convention are meeting at the BIPM headquarters in Sèvres, France, ahead of the 28th meeting of the General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM).
The meeting focuses on organizational and procedural matters related to the Conference, elections to the International Committee for Weights and Measures (CIPM) and the Committee for CIPM Election (CEC/EC), as well as the package of draft resolutions to be considered by the 28th CGPM.
Participants are also discussing the BIPM Work Programme and related financial matters for 2028–2031, including preparations for the Working Group on the BIPM dotation.
The preparatory meeting provides representatives of States Parties with an opportunity to discuss key matters before the official opening of the CGPM in Versailles on 13 October.
